Goodbye Old Friend....................

Well all good things must come to an end, and sadly for me after 17 years of faithful service my poor old washing machine had to go, for some time I've had to spin twice, kick the door to start the machine and finally a couple of weeks ago when I opened the door the handle came away in my hand.  I know I've been very lucky, the one and only time I had to have the engineer call was to retrieve a wire from my bra!

Old faithful has been replaced by this little fellow....................

Let's hope that I get the same service from this one as my last.

Until next time

  2. I liked the fact you kicked the washing machine!
I feel like that when I look at all the clothes in the washing basket...x

  3. Goodbye old faithful! That's a very impressive track run. My other half has a Fisher & Pykel washing machine in his office that is over 30 years old: just a single knob and not much to go wrong. The one in our home on the other hand need money spending on it every 6 months. Last time, all the sand from the beach destroyed the motor. Lesson learned there!

  5. That is so sad. How do we get so attached to machines. That said my cooker is 42 years old, the only one I have ever had and I thought it too was about to give up at Christmas and I nearly cried. But we had a reprieve and she's still going strong. Good Luck with the new fella!!

  7. I hope your new washer lasts that long..... I have had my washing machine 15 years this year, and the same as you I am having to push the door in to get it to go and remember to keep emptying the filter. I rinse it through with white vinegar every now and then too. We tend to take our washing machines for granted somewhat, until they give up on us!

  12. What a beautiful washer! Did you ever see that episode of I Love Lucy where Lucy sold Ethel her old washing machine? I have watched it hundreds of times and still laugh.
Enjoy your new washer! I wish I had been there when the repair man fished out the wire from your bra! I bet you both had a good laugh!

  20. Your new washer looks nice. Mine is top-loading so I know I'll have a learning curve getting used to a front loader. Let's hope I don't make a mess of things! Have a great week :)

  22. I know how you feel! Mine also was dying a slow death. My dryer was fine. Went to look at many types: Bosch, Kenmore, GE, Samsung, etc..Finally decided to purchase a Maytag Bravo with the new technology. Of course we also bought the new matching dryer. Many $$$ later we are so happy with these appliances. I hope I never see the Maytag repair man although the new one is kinda cute LOL. Hope you enjoy your new washer!
